LIVING SPRINGS FELLOWSHIP

When Our Eyes Behold Him

"And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh." (Matthew 2:11)

The wise of the earth have a tendency to leave wisdom behind them wherever they go. The Proverbs tell us that the wise spend their time with those who are wise and "the lips of the wise disperse knowledge" (Prov. 15:7). They do not conform to the ways of the world but are transformed by the renewing of their minds to prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Rom. 12:2).

When Daniel was exiled and living in the midst of Babylon, he showed us that "the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy" (James 3:17). Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself with the king's delights but rather to delight himself in the Lord so that he might be directed by His light and direct others in the worship of the true King.

Daniel made such an impact in Babylon that the prophetic revelation he left behind would later impact the wise men who knew that a Messiah King would one day come. So they set out on a long journey to behold the birth of Jesus Christ by following His star in the East. They travelled until it led them to the area where Christ would be born.

The Word of God served them as a LAMP unto their feet and the STAR above them guided them as beam of light that led them directly the feet of the Child Jesus.

The Apostle Paul would later write, "But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons" (Gal. 4:4-5).

O how important it is to be guided by the Scriptures and to follow the present leading of His Spirit in our lives. God is glorified whenever His Son is BEHELD and BELIEVED and we are letting Him take full control of our lives as we daily learn to trust and follow Him.

From the beginning of time, the heavens have declared the glory of God and the stars were uniquely placed for times and seasons, and for days and years" (Gen. 1:14). God even told Abraham to look up and count the stars, if he could, for He said, "so shall your descendants be (Gen. 15:5). Every believer who would ever place their trust in God's provision would be like one of those shining stars in the sky that gives testimony to God.

Daniel said, "Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever" (Dan. 12:3)

How can the wise in heart turn many lost souls to the righteousness of Christ today?

Let us learn from the wise men who not only saw Jesus with their own eyes but also responded to Jesus with transformed lives.

Their reaction to the revelation of Christ shows us three very powerful things:
  • They had hearts that were READY TO WORSHIP the Lord Jesus.
  • They were WILLING TO GIVE THEIR ALL and offer their best gifts to Jesus.
  • They would not compromise but were ABLE TO BE REDIRECTED for Jesus.

How about you? Are you READY, WILLING, and ABLE to worship God, give your all to Him, and let God fully direct your life? Are you living as a wise person today? Are you abiding in God's Word and allowing the light of Scripture to guide you to His perfect light?

Jesus once said, "But wisdom is justified by all her children" (Luke 7:35). Let us be among those who are willing to go to great lengths to behold Jesus with our eyes and then to help others realize that the greatest gift of all is KNOWING and SHOWING Jesus to the world!

O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him...
CHRIST THE LORD!
