LIVING SPRINGS FELLOWSHIP

God Alone is Wise

"Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. Then the secret was REVEALED to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven." - Daniel 2:17-19

Here are two comforting TRUTHS that we learn from the life of Daniel:
1.  God is in full control and knows all things.
2. God is fully present with us and shows us what we need to know.

Do you believe these two truths dear saint of the Lord? For if they were true in the days of Daniel, they are still true today!

When Daniel first arrived in Babylon, he identified the dangers of their false worship and selfish practices, It was one thing for Daniel to purpose in his heart not to defile himself with the delights of Babylon but it is another thing for Daniel to have his life threatened because by the burden of the king to have his dream rightly interpreted.

The wisdom of this world does not connect with the God who knows all things and can do all things. It is limited and finite. The wise men of Babylon factor things based on what is seen and calculated but Daniel knew how to draw from an endless well of wisdom, power, and love.

When the decision of the king was made known, Daniel gathered his close friends together to seek the mercies of the God of heaven. God gives wisdom to those who ask Him and He answers in ways that only He can.

What do you do when you do not know what to do? Do you take matters in your own hands or do you turn to the Lord and seek His wisdom and grace?

The wisdom of God shows us what is waiting for us. As Proverbs 2:6-7 says, "For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly".

God has unlimited resources to help us in our times of need. He can turn the light on in the dark places. He can answer us from heaven, in dreams, in visions, in the Scriptures, and through the help and support of others.

Even today, God is drawing many people to Himself by ordained orchestrations and interventions and divine dreams that are confirmed by His servants when they share the gospel with the lost. God is orchestrating all things to show His sovereign will to gather His children from all over the world.

While Daniel and his friends were praying, Jeremiah was calling the people back in Jerusalem to repent and return and seek the Lord. The LORD spoke through Jeremiah saying, "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ (Jeremiah 33:3)

When God answered Daniel with the dream and its interpretation, he blessed the God of heaven.

Daniel answered and said, "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness..." (Daniel 2:20-22)

May we all live with such dependency on God and expectation of what God will do.

Questions for Discussion in Home Groups:

1. Has God ever spoken to you in a dream or a vision? If so, how did God minister to you and how did He confirm His will to you?

2. Can you think of some times in your life where you found your self backed up against a wall or in a place of darkness? Share what happened and what God taught you.

3. What have you learned about the difference between God's wisdom and the wisdom of this world? How can you be sure to receive God's wisdom at this present time or when you will need it in the future?

DANIEL CHALLENGE:
Are you willing to go fervently to God and to ask for the light needed to see the path not yet seen?
