LIVING SPRINGS FELLOWSHIP

The Power of God's Deliverance

"And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever! My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.”

The moment of truth had finally come. After years of being immersed in the corrupt culture of Babylon and now the Medo-Persian empire, Daniel's purposeful and pure heart was about to go through his greatest test. His refusal to compromise his faith had won him great favor with the king but his contemporaries were envious and schemed a plan that they hoped would bring an end to Daniel's life and influence. So Daniel was thrown into a den of hungry lions. Would this be his end? How could he possibly survive this?

But GOD...

After a restless night of trying to find some way to get around the decree that he so foolishly signed, King Darius fasted and contemplated and then arrived early in the morning wondering if Daniel's God had delivered him.

Then came the ANSWER...

After the king called out to him, the silence was finally broken only to reveal that Daniel's life and body were fully intact. The answer came...God had rescued Daniel by shutting the mouths of the lions so that he suffered no harm at all. The king was astonished and overjoyed by the amazing power displayed by Daniel's God.

And now we come to YOU...

Are you needing the Lord to come and silence the roar of the lion in your life? The devil daily seeks to deceive and destroy you with his strategic attacks and he seeks to drown out any assurance you may have from God.

The Bible describes the enemy of our souls as being just like a lion. The Apostle Peter writes, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." (1 Peter 5:8)

Although we have a lion who opposes us, we also have the Lion of the tribe of Judah who defends us and fights our battles. The Apostle John says, "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is GREATER than he who is in the world."

Are you being opposed by the lies of the enemy or from those who are seeking to find fault in you at this time? Will you hold on to your integrity and continue to trust in the Lord so that the only fault anyone can find with you will be that you have sincere faith in the living God?

No matter what you are facing, the Lord's face is always before you. The Lord stays with you, prays for you, and displays His power through you in every battle you fight.

The enemy knows you well and studies you carefully to trip you up. If you are not careful, the devil can turn any place into a lion's den for you to fall into. He will deceive you if you are not feeding on His Word and will accuse you whenever you slip up. But His presence is our protection, His power is our greatest weapon, and His promise is our victory and deliverance!

Have you felt the breath of the lion lately? We need to be aware that the devil is waiting to attack. He is crouching...sizing you up...looking to devour you. So stand your ground, admit your weakness, and rely on His power!

The Apostle Paul did this very thing, saying, "Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many." (2 Corinthians 1:9-11).

Your obedience will influence others and your endurance will lead others to give thanks to God...just like it did for King Darius, who ended up writing a decree declaring the greatness of God:

"I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, And steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, And His dominion shall endure to the end. He delivers and rescues, And He works signs and wonders In heaven and on earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions." (Daniel 6:26-27)

Think of all the times that God has delivered you up to this point. Isn't He worthy of our highest praise! He knows what He is doing and every suffering has a purpose for God's glory. May we remember that, "The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them...Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all" (Psalm 34;7, 19).
