Today, Hear His Voice
"Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “TODAY, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness" (Heb. 3:7-8)
Praise the Lord that our Lord speaks to us! His voice is powerful and yet personal so that every one of HIs sheep can follow the Shepherd's voice and fulfill the purpose He has ordained for us.
The Lord has spoken to us from Genesis to Revelation by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Since the Word is living and powerful, the Holy Spirit takes the Word and speaks and applies it personally to our hearts no matter where we may be in the Scriptures.
We must tune our ears to the voice of God and be ready to do whatever He shows us to do, testing all things by the written Word of God. For if we do not listen to His voice, we will harden our hearts as in the rebellion in the wilderness.
There are many spiritual lessons that we can learn from the children of Israel while they were in the wilderness. The wilderness is a time of testing and training because it is the place of the in-between your former dwelling (Egypt) and the place that God desires to take us to (Namely, the Promised Land).
When the children of Israel left Egypt, which was a picture of bondage in the world, they were no longer under the heavy burden of the taskmasters or the cruel authority of Pharaoh. They were free from the tyranny and idolatry of Egypt but they were now in unfamiliar territory and needed to unlearn the ways of the world to learn the ways of the LORD. They left Egypt but Egypt had not left them.
The Lord had many things to show them which required them to have a humble heart and a teachable spirit. Psalm 81:8-10 says,
“Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you! O Israel, if you will listen to Me! There shall be no foreign god among you; Nor shall you worship any foreign god. I am the LORD your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it." So open your mouth wide dear saint and let the LORD fill it and your heart!
There is so much God is ready to do in and through your life "only if you carefully obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe with care all these commandments which I command you today . . . . You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this thing today" (Deut. 15:5,15)
The Lord always has commands and directives for us to follow each day, which will always be in a "TODAY!" We always live in a today...since yesterday and tomorrow are only matters of perspective.
Therefore Jesus said, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble" (Matt. 6:34).
Are you open to hear the voice of the Lord today? Are your ready to obey what He tells you to do...even if it might be hard or uncomfortable? Well...what is your answer to that question?

Let us be able to say as Samuel did, "Speak, for Your servant hears" (1 Sam. 3:10).
