There is Power in the Name

"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” - Acts 4:12

"O Lord Jesus!" These three simple words can change hearts, lives, perspectives, problems, and situations when spoken in faith and sincerity.

When we speak a person's name, we focus our attention on who a person is as the very name draws our attention to what we know about a person's background, nature, character, personality, and ability. The disciples could no longer see Jesus physically but they walked by faith and preached His Name in boldness and performed various works in the power of the Name of Jesus.

The operating power of the disciples simultaneously revealed and exposed the opposing power of the religious leaders of the day who continued to reject Jesus as their Messiah since they were unknowingly under the sway and power of Satan. It is the clash of these diverse powers that create the reality of what is called spiritual warfare.

The religious leaders, especially the Sadducees who did not believe in the resurrection, did not want the disciples to speak in the Name of Jesus because they were threatened by the authority of that Name even though they could not deny that this lame man had been healed because of faith in that Name.

One of the great lessons that we must continually learn is to understand the power that is released when we call upon the Name of the Lord Jesus. Not only is there salvation in the Name of Jesus, and in that Name only, but the demonic realm trembles at the sound of His Name and must submit when a believer speaks and acts accordingly in the authority of that Name. Therefore, we must get comfortable to daily rely on speaking the powerful Name of Jesus.

There has been a long history of God's people speaking out and calling upon the Name of the Lord. We see this in the first mention of prayer was in Genesis 4:26 where it says, "Then men began to call on the name of the LORD." We see that this was the practice of many of God's faithful servants: In Psalm 99:6, it says, "Moses and Aaron were among His priests, And Samuel was AMONG THOSE who called upon His name; They called upon the LORD, and He answered them. When we call upon the Name of the Lord, we are not just thinking quietly about who God is, but we are actually invoking His Name and believing in Him to faithfully act and to wisely answer our every need.

YHWH is the Covenant Name for God and used to show how He is "The Self Existing One” who meets our every need within His holy covenant with us:

The NAMES of GOD:

YHWH JIREH - The LORD who Provides (Gen. 22:14)

YHWH RAPHA - The LORD who Heals (Ex. 15:26)

YHWH NISSI - The LORD who is our Banner (Ex. 17:15)

YHWH SHALOM - The LORD who is our Peace (Jud. 6:24)

YHWH TSABA - The LORD who is our Warrior (1 Sam 17:45)

YWHH TSIDKENU - The LORD who is our Righteousness (Jer. 23:6)

YHWH RA’AH - The LORD who is our Shepherd (Ps. 23:1)

YHWH SHAMMAH - The LORD who is PRESENT with us (Ezek. 48:35)

What is your need today? Do you know that there is a Name of God to meet your every need? Call upon His Name right now and ask Him to meet your present need!

Let us remember that "The NAME OF THE LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe." (Prov. 18:10).

ACTS IN ACTION" CHALLENGE POINT:

Take time to call out the Lord’s Name in your prayer life and ask Him to fill you with His power that you may be ready to speak the Name of Jesus in your gospel witness
