Following Jesus in the Unknown
Updated: Apr 26
"And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen." - John 21:25
Every day that the Lord was on the earth He was touching lives for eternity. Some of those things were recorded and some of them are only known by those who He touched on this earth! There are so many things that were not written in Scripture but written on the hearts of men. The same is still true today as He is working in each of our lives at all times in big and small ways.
The Lord is always working. He is working in the unknown, unseen places of our lives. He is interceding for us and working all things together for good to those who love God and the called according to His purpose. He is strong when we are weak. He is faithful when we are faithless.
He is in the major events and in the minor events of our lives. He is watching over us protecting us and providing for us. He desires to lead us even when it seems insignificant to others or will never be recorded here on earth.
Every time we go to sleep at night, we are not only getting a recharge but receiving a reminder that God is in charge even when we can do nothing at all. But the Lord loves to partner with us from the moment we wake as we learn to trust and follow Him.
The Bible says, "The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand." (Ps. 37:23-24). The Lord upholds the man who does not need to be recognized by others or to do something that is considered great in the sight of man. He delights in our willingness to follow Him wherever He leads and to fulfill the purpose He has for us.
God wants to order our steps in the anonymous and ordinary times of our lives. He is working His character into us as we just follow the Lord closely and trust Him at all times. He knows when we are living for His good pleasure and to please Him. The Lord is always seeing our thoughts and hearing our words and the meditations of our heart. In fact, a book of remembrance is being written about the the words we say and the steps we take and the actions that we commit on a daily basis.
"Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name." - Mal. 3:16-17
Sometimes all you need to know is that the Lord knows what you do not know and that He wants you to know that He is working even when you do not know such things.
Like Jesus said to Peter when he was looking toward man, "YOU FOLLOW ME." Keep your eyes in one direction dear saint...ON HIM!
HEART WORK:
Are you a servant of the Lord when life seems uneventful?
Are you seeking to please and follow the Lord even when you are alone with Him?
Are you more interested in living a life based on what is recorded in heaven rather than what is recorded on earth?
