Christ Fulfills All Things

“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill." - Matthew 5:17

“You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me." - John 5:39

Everything in Scripture points to Jesus! Many fail to realize this but Christ is the central person behind the entire narrative of the Bible. Sometimes He is there as a shadow or a type of what is to come and other times the light is turned on so brightly that we might see He is the very Substance of the work. The eternal purpose of God is always unfolding. As we search through the Bible, we see that Scripture interprets Scripture, showing that Christ Jesus is contained and explained, concealed and revealed, and make known by all those who have eyes to see, hearts to receive, and ears to hear.

Jesus is the hero of every story and the power behind every healing, hardship, deliverance, and victory! He is our ever present help in every turn and every twist of life, He is sovereign over every event recorded and revealed, while overseeing every failure and every triumph. Christ is at the heart of all that pertains to the promises of God and the hope fulfilled of every prophetic revelation given to us in the Holy Scriptures.

Jesus Himself obeyed the law at ALL POINTS...while POINTING OUT the deeper demands of the Law for us for it was Jesus who the Law was POINTING us toward all along.

As Paul writes, "But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe" (Romans 3:21-22)

When Jesus took Peter, James, and John up on the mountain, He was transfigured in glory, with Moses and Elijah at His side. The Law was represented my Moses and the Prophets were represented by Elijah but they were no longer seen as ONLY JESUS REMAINED! This is a powerful picture of how ALL THINGS ARE FULFILLED IN CHRIST!

The Law and Prophets were given to prepare and declare the way of the Lord! The Law was God's holy standards given through Moses to expose the sinful hearts of Man and the Prophets were raised up to direct those same rebellious hearts to turn back to God and to see and hear what God was going to do ahead of time. The Bible speaks of ONE UNIFIED MESSAGE that is about Christ and His Mission of uniting Himself with His Church.

When everything in the Christian faith is added together, we discover that Christ Jesus is the sum total of all things! He is the fulfillment of all that is good.

"And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." - John 1:16-17

Heart Work

- Are you searching for Jesus whenever and wherever you read the Scriptures?

- How are you focusing on drawing near to His Presence and Person throughout your day and are you helping others to encounter His presence by the way you are living?

If Christ's kingdom is birthed in you, then over time others should be able to taste and see that the Lord is good by observing your life and seeing the direction you are following in.
